Founder notes

Meet the founder: Stefan and how Weeve is changing his life

Stefan Weiss

I'm going to write this the way I'd say it.

Before Weeve, my work week had a shape I think a lot of people will recognise. Eight to twelve calls a day. Half of them important. All of them recorded somewhere. None of them ever opened again. The notes I took in the moment were too sparse to be useful and too distracting to be worth taking. By Friday I could remember the texture of who I'd spoken to but not the substance of what we'd said.

The problem wasn't that I needed a transcription tool. I'd tried six. The problem was that I needed to feel prepared again, and no amount of raw text in a sidebar was going to get me there.

What changed

When Dylan and I started talking about what a real follow-through layer could look like, the test we kept coming back to was simple. On Sunday night, when I'm thinking about the week ahead, can I open this thing and feel ready? Not informed. Ready.

That's a different problem from transcription. Transcription gives you a record. Preparation gives you a position. Knowing what was said is the start. Knowing what was decided, what's outstanding, what someone cares about more than they're letting on, that's where the work actually lives.

What it does for me now

I get my Sunday evenings back. I open Weeve and I see what's coming, what's unresolved, and what I told someone last quarter that I haven't followed up on. I don't take notes in meetings anymore. I'm just there.

The bit I didn't expect: I'm a better listener now. When you stop trying to capture what someone is saying, you start hearing it.

I built Weeve because I wanted it. The fact that other people want it too is the part of the job I still find slightly miraculous.
