About this template

How the board minutes template is put together.

Minutes that hold up later

Board minutes are a formal record, so this template is stricter than the others. The attendees line prompts you to note quorum and who was expected but absent, and every decision records who made the call and the rationale behind it.

Actions still carry an owner, a due date, and a status, and the links and documents section keeps the papers referenced in the meeting beside the record.

Distribution and approvals built in

The distribution section records who receives the minutes and where they are filed, which matters when the record is shared beyond the room.

The approvals section is unique to this template. It leaves a line for who approved the minutes and when, so the sign-off is part of the document rather than a separate email. If you record the meeting to help write the minutes, ask everyone first and follow the rules that apply.
