Compatibility at a glance

System audio requires a Chromium browser. Tab audio works on desktop Chrome and Edge. Full device audio depends on the operating system. Safari and Firefox can record the microphone but not system audio here.

How it works

    Choose System audio

    Open the browser sharing picker from the recorder.

  2. 02

    Select an audible source

    Pick Entire screen for computer-wide sound, or one tab. Turn on Share audio in the picker.

  3. 03

    Record the sound

    Keep the shared source active. Stopping browser sharing also stops recording.

  4. 04

    Play or save

    Review the result, then download it or continue to transcription.

What system audio means

System audio is sound produced by another tab, application, or the operating system. Browser rules decide which sources appear in the sharing picker.

A browser tab is usually the most reliable choice for web video and browser meetings. Full-screen or application capture may not include sound on every operating system.

Browser support is different

Chrome and Edge use the screen-sharing permission flow for system sound. Safari and Firefox do not currently provide compatible system-audio capture.

If no audio track appears, retry and confirm that Share audio is selected. You can switch to microphone recording when system capture is unavailable.

Record responsibly

System capture can preserve a permitted webinar, video, game, or remote side of a call. Choose Both when you also need your microphone.

Only record material you are allowed to capture. Copyright, meeting consent, and workplace rules still apply when processing stays local.
