Compatibility at a glance
Weeve accepts .mp4 and .webm video with the video/mp4 or video/webm MIME types, and the audio inside can run up to 60 minutes. MOV, AVI and MKV are not accepted, so re-export those as MP4 first. The browser also has to decode the audio codec stored in the container.

Text you can search, quote, and skim
A recorded webinar, lecture, customer call, or screen capture holds everything that was said and none of it is findable. Scrubbing a timeline to locate one sentence is slow, and it gets slower as the recording gets longer.
As text the same recording becomes something you can search with one keystroke, quote accurately, and read in a fraction of the running time. Timestamps stay attached to the words, so the moment is still one click away when you need the audio itself.
Which video files work here
MP4 and WebM are the two video containers this page accepts, and MP4 covers most recordings that come out of meeting software, phones, and screen recorders. MOV, AVI and MKV are not accepted: re-export or convert a copy to MP4 and it will decode.
A supported extension is not a guarantee on its own, because the browser still has to decode the audio codec inside the container. Ordinary AAC tracks, which is what most MP4 files carry, decode without trouble.
Speech only, and none of it leaves the page
Weeve transcribes what was said. The video track is never inspected, so slides, burned-in captions, and anything else written on screen are not read. If the words only exist on the slide, they will not be in the transcript.
The decoding, the transcription and the speaker separation all happen in browser workers on your own machine. Only the speech models arrive over the network, from Weeve’s CDN. Your recording never leaves this page.
