Built-in Mac recording apps

Voice Memos is suited to quick spoken notes. QuickTime Player offers File, New Audio Recording and a microphone selector. Both are good first choices for microphone-only capture.

Neither method automatically gives every app access to internal audio. macOS privacy controls and the chosen application still define available sources.

Record Mac system audio

Recent Chrome versions can expose supported tab or system sources on compatible macOS versions. Choose System audio or Both and inspect the browser sharing picker.

Availability can differ by Chrome and macOS release. Make a test, enable Share audio, and confirm playback before a long session.

Tell participants and follow the recording and consent rules that apply to your location, organization, and meeting. Local capture does not remove those obligations.
